ROTARY CLUB OF WATERDOWN
ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS: RYLA
Each year at least one local student is sponsored by the Rotary
Club of Waterdown to attend the Rotary District RYLA program, an
all-expenses-paid seminar, camp and workshop focused on
developing leadership skills. The week-long event usually takes
place in St. Catherine's or the Buffalo area.
BACKGROUND
RYLA was officially adopted by Rotary International as a Rotary
project in 1971, and is one of the most significant and
fastest-growing programs of Rotary service. RYLA programs often
lead to the formation or strengthening of Rotaract and Interact
clubs, and RYLA participants often go on to become Youth Exchange
students or Ambassadorial Scholars.
